Linnea's Food List - Amsterdam City Guide

Getting around the city makes us hungry. Here are some unique food recommendations provided by Linnea in this first Amsterdam City Guide.

On the streets of Amsterdam you can find food from every corner of the world. I almost found it easier than finding a restaurant with proper Dutch food. Here you can eat your way through the globe, not just from the steaming food trucks at the Sunday market in Westerpark, or from the crowded food stands at the Albert Cuyp market. We will guide you to 5 different international cuisines in Amsterdam. Eet smakelijk!

KU Kitchen & Bar

Where: Utrechtsestraat 114

What: If you feel like a Japanese night, KU Kitchen & Bar is the place to go. Eat some of the best sushi or Japanese dishes with ice cold Sake. For a top evening: bring a group of friends, start off with a Sake cocktail, and order the Russian Rolette roll – a share plate with a hidden super spicy role. The (un)lucky finder gets a free Sake shot!

Acmbp Amsterdam Orontes2

Where: Albert Cuypstraat 40-42 & Hugo de Grootplein 8.

What: Orontes is a family owned Turkish restaurant with influences from the Arabic kitchen. The owner Nesip Can brought, with his old friend Kazim, the best food from their home town Hatiay, Turkey. At the two resturants in De Pijp and West you can order all from traditional Turkish dishes, to a stunning meze plate with a humus that travelled all the way from turkey (or at least the chickpeas).

Acmbp Amsterdam Coffee Coco1

CT - Coffee & Coconuts

Where: Ceintuurbaan 282-284

: If you want to forget the rain and cold for a moment, go to Coffee & Coconuts. Hiding within the old cinema in de Pijp, you can find this Hawaiian inspired restaurant. They serve food from early morning to late evening. Grab a Harry Nilsson coconut together with a Creamy Cauli ower Soup for lunch, or a cocktail and choose from the dinner menu, which focuses on fresh food with a Hawaiian touch.

Acmbp Amsterdam Mossels Gin2

Mossels & Gin

Where: Gosschalklaan 12

What: Mossels & Gin thought about the genius idea of combining freshly caught mussels with gin & tonic. If you love them both, this is your place to visit. The traditional Belgium dish, mussels & fries, did not travel all the way from Belgium - but from the Dutch coast. You can with the food also order a Ginmayo, and, yep, it is indeed a combination of Mayonnese and Gin.

Pizza Bakkers

Where: Haarlemmerdijk, but also at Overtoom, De Pijp, Plantage Kerklaan, Spaardammerstraat.

What: If you get hungry while shopping at the Harlemmerstraat, you can easily stop by this great pizza place called Pizza Bakkers. Here you can get all kinds of Italian flavours all on one crispy pizza dough, in just a few minutes. This small, but very cozy location is the perfect place to go if you want to grab a quick dinner, but still want to eat great food.
