Top 10 Fun Events to Explore in November

Winter is coming but fear not… November might not be keeping you warm but it will keep you fuzzy. Our Amsterdam correspondents made a list of events to make sure of that.

The month of November is not only about growing a moustache or about the arrival of Sinterklaas and the premiere of his rainbow-colored Pietjes. It’s also about exotic stories, dancing with van Gogh, and racing against Donkey Kong. Check out what Amsterdam holds more in store this month…

Culture

Museumnacht: is the Amsterdam version of a night in the museum. More than 50 museums (plus The Dutch National Ballet) are open from 7PM – 2AM. Enjoy live music, DJs, dance, performances, film, special tours and food and drinks alongside the permanent collections and temporary exhibitions.

Storytelling festival: everyone makes special journeys throughout their life, may it be mentally or physically. And that’s exactly what this year’s storytelling festival theme is about… journeys. Expect national and international crème de la crème story telling talents on stage. Some of them are migration stories, told by people who have had their own reasons to come to the Netherlands. They also took stories from their home country with them. Each story is unique, intriguing, funny, sad or beautiful. Have your pick…

Amsterdam Light Festival: Luckily we don’t have to give in to dark winter nights thanks to the annual Amsterdam Light Festival. Amsterdam is being transformed into a city of light with the help of contemporary (inter)national light artists. Bundle up and get outside for the walking route or enjoy a unique view via the waterways with one of the boat tours.

Opening Ton Ton Club Westergasfabriek: Ton Ton Club, a cosy living-roomish place where you can challenge your friends for a game of Mortal Combat, with a beer in one hand and a hotdog in the other.  It’s the arcade hall Amsterdam never had, and it’s opening a second location at Westergasfabriek. Celebrate it with Mario Kart, Dance Dance Revolution or a game of Bishi Bashi. But also live DJs, Japanese and American snacks, and drinks. Doors will open from 20:00.
