Miauwsterdam

We either love them or hate them, but when we do love them… it runs deep.

One out of 4 Amsterdammers owns one…  a cat!

Take Dutch visual artists Bart Jansen for example, who gave his dead cat Orville a new lease of life by turning it into a catcopter. Yes, he made his dead cat fly, after having him stuffed and mounting propellers to his legs.

Or the Catboat at Singel 38G. A boathouse that’s been taking in  street cats since 1966. It all started with one lady Mrs. Weelde, who saved a mother cat and her kittens.

If you happen to be a keen cat lover yourself, make sure to stop by Cats and Things. A cute store to treat yourself and your pet to some cat-frenzy souvenirs.

Here's a peek of our Miauwsterdam series, Amsterdammers' number one companion, roaming the streets, minding its own business...
