PURPLE AND BLUE
There are mornings in which one rises with the need to observe the blue of the sea while submerging your feet in the sand, feeling the salt in the skin. For those mornings, you should know that the sea is closer than you think. No need to take a plane or a train. You just need to visit the Museo Sorolla, and admire its wonderful picture: Paseo a Orillas del Mar. Its wide brushwork and colours, can make you feel the sea breeze, the same breeze that moves the hat of the lady, forever captured on the canvas.
Margarita se llama mi amor
A cute little florist located in Fernando VI. Margarita se llama mi amor takes care of every detail: the direct contact with the clients (as they don't sell online); the selection of special flowers, plants, fruit trees, personalized bunches... they also organize floral workshops. All its plants and flowers are seasonal, that is why the purple of the lavender and heather is the current leading colour.
Hermosillas’ secret patio
This place is an oasis in the middle of the city chaos. Thousands of green form this spectacular garden located in Hermosilla 26 inner patio, a temple of design and fashion shopping. Unfortunately, in March 2014 there was a fire that affected this beautiful place.
But hey, keep calm shopaholics and beauty lovers! This place opened again and it is full of lovely stores. That's why we love this place even more, and we highly recommend visiting it at least once.
El Huerto de Lucas
Welcome to one of the most green, ecological and respectful with the environment places of Madrid. El Huerto de Lucas is an organic food market and restaurant located in Chueca. Everything is organic there, totally free of pesticides. The buildings' construction and design is also 100% ecological, as varnishes, silicone or PVC have not been used. It also has solar panels and a hanging garden that helps to purify the air. In addition to all this, El Huerto de Lucas promotes a new environmental culture through different expositions, talks and workshops.
Cities around the world are different for infinite reasons: the odours, the name of the streets, the colour of the houses, its inhabitants. And yet, there are certain aspects that are repeated. As a canon. Even in the smallest town, it is easy to find a space reserved for a botanical garden. Each one is different in its organization or form, but it is always green. In all its shades. And in the end, the beauty is that it shows the stunning beauty of nature. In the case of Madrid, the visit is almost obligatory.
ORANGE AND RED
Cineteca del Matadero
It is known as the Cineteca, but it could also be called Palace of Wicker. In one of the Mataderos’ wings, that has become a great cultural space, documentaries and films are projected every day. Genuine, original and avant-garde content. Its gold ceilings and walls surround those who enjoy audiovisual content, in a unique architectural space.
This one must be red, huh? In regards to this place, we could say there are two types of people: the ones that ignore its existence and therefore, will miss an incredible plan, or the ones that knows that something special is hidden there: the new cultural room in Madrid. Located in Calle Duque de Alba 4, what used to be a cinema X has become an amazing place where you'll find cinema, concerts, food and activities always related to culture.
The building is a mansion that was the editorial office of El Imparcial newspaper between 1913 and 1933. In 1933 the newspaper closed, and the Alba cinema was built there. In the 1980s, the Alba cinema became a room X, the last one opened in Madrid. This cinema has miraculously survived successive attempts of demolition, thanks to the efforts of the owner's family, who have defended their cultural value and always have taken into account the potential of that space as a cultural centre.
